1、Basis of Analysis 

Tempered glass fractures into bite-sized pieces with no sharp edges. Hence, you may determine whether glass is tempered by the break pattern.

2、Process of Analysis 

Take a piece of glass and hit it at any section with a sharp object.  Observe the fracture pattern of the glass.  If they break into bite-sized particles with not sharp edges, the glass is tempered. 

3、Applicability and Limitations

(1)Applicability: Fragment test is easy to carry out.  The result is clear and easy to observe. In practice, fragment method is only used for sampling inspection.

(2)Limitations: Fragment method is a destructive test.  Once the glass is damaged, replacement costs a lot of work. Moreover, in an actual construction project, it is not practical to conduct a destructive test after the acquisition or installation is completed.
